Good news: figured it out, and made a lovely crosshair-dot. I use my clumsy dot in CS:GO and wonder why this isn't a thing yet. But here is the thing: the colors switch position giving them the appearance of rotating, making the dot almost impossible to lose, unless you make it too small, and because of the contrast of colors (two dark, two light), you would be able to find it regardless of how dark or bright it was in the game.
